The Value of Design

Why Landscape Design Matters

The success of any landscaping project begins long before the first tree is planted or the first paver is installed. A professionally designed landscape ensures every element of your property works together, creating a cohesive outdoor environment that is both beautiful and practical.

Rather than making decisions one project at a time, a comprehensive landscape design establishes a long-term vision for your property. This approach allows homeowners to prioritize projects, plan for future improvements, and ensure every investment contributes to a unified outdoor space.

At Bare Roots, our design process focuses on understanding how you use your property, your maintenance preferences, your budget, and your goals before recommending solutions that fit your lifestyle.

A Landscape Designed Around You

No two homes are alike, and no two landscapes should be either. Every design we create is customized to reflect your property’s architecture, the natural features of your lot, and the way you envision using your outdoor space.

Some homeowners want a low-maintenance landscape with drought-tolerant plants and efficient irrigation. Others dream of an expansive outdoor entertaining area complete with a pool, fire feature, and outdoor kitchen. Whatever your vision, our team develops a plan that brings every detail together while maximizing your property’s potential.

What We Consider During the Design Process

Great landscape design balances aesthetics with function. Before creating a design, we evaluate a wide range of factors that influence the long-term success of your landscape.

Property Layout

Every property has unique opportunities and challenges. We carefully evaluate the size, elevation, drainage patterns, existing trees, structures, and overall layout to develop a design that works with your property instead of against it.

Outdoor Living Goals

How do you plan to use your outdoor space?

Whether your priorities include entertaining, relaxing, family activities, or increasing curb appeal, every design is built around the way you live.

Plant Selection

North Texas presents unique growing conditions, including intense summer heat, clay soils, drought periods, and occasional freezes. We select trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and flowering plants that perform well in the Dallas-Fort Worth climate while providing year-round visual interest.

Irrigation & Water Management

Proper irrigation is essential for protecting your investment. We incorporate efficient irrigation strategies that promote healthy plant growth while minimizing water waste.

Drainage

One of the most overlooked aspects of landscape design is drainage. We identify potential drainage issues early in the planning process to prevent standing water, erosion, and long-term property damage.

Lighting

Thoughtfully placed landscape lighting extends the enjoyment of your outdoor space long after the sun goes down while improving safety, highlighting architectural features, and increasing security.
